dietitian has the rewarding and challenging job of applying the science of nutrition to treatment and
prevention of disease. Clinical dietitians, who are Registered Dietitians, work in hospitals, clinics,
and other fast-paced medical settings.

Public health, or community, nutritionists are those caring people who work for government and private
agencies, developing and carrying out programs to ensure good nutrition and help prevent disease.
Jobs in the US or internationally focus on groups at risk, like the young, elderly, or underprivileged.

Nutrition Educator All Three Concentrations
Nutrition educators and communicators use their written and interpersonal skills to make food and
health issues clear to others. You might teach a class, write a magazine column, or develop educational
materials for a food company; you understand the science, and know how to successfully reach others.

Private Practice Nutrition Consultant All Three Concentrations
As a consultant, you run your own show marketing your special skill sets. If you love the idea of clinical
nutrition but also counseling others, you may become a Registered Dietitian offering counseling services
for people with eating disorders, diabetes, heart disease, or other conditions. Other consultants use their
writing skills to serve as technical writers or analysts for food companies or public relations firms.

Are you fascinated with biology, chemistry, physiology, and genetics? Are you analytical and curious?
Nutritional science researchers use cell cultures, animal models, and human subjects to study nutrient
function in health and disease. Usually you will proceed to a graduate degree after your graduation to
be a successful researcher.

Want to combine a love of food, organizational, leadership, and nutrition skills? Foodservice positions,
at schools, hospitals, hotel/restaurant chains, and other institutions, combine these planning and
management strengths in foodservice operations. Having an RD credential can help for some positions,
there are opportunities for students with a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition.
