Student Academic Teams

Nutrition College Bowl Team

Students in our Applied Nutrition concentration compete with teams from other nutrition programs in the Western U.S. Team members answer questions about every aspect of nutrition including food composition, human nutrient requirements and metabolism, and foodservice management. Winners of this fast-paced competition have bragging rights and an accomplishment to note on resumes.


Food Product Development Team

Members of this team plan and produce a demonstration food product incorporating considerations of composition, analysis, packaging, marketing strategies, and solutions to a myriad of production and presentation obstacles. Winning teams advance to the national Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) annual meeting for competition with teams from all over the country.  

Intercollegiate Food Science and Technology College Bowl Competition

This team takes learning to a new height with its local, regional, and national competitions. This competition focuses on all facets of food science, from food chemistry to food processing to the safety and nutritional value of foods. Answer all of those tricky questions posed by food science professionals in front of an audience of IFT members, and network with other future food scientists!
